The most expensive stadium tickets offered, were on the Super Fight between Floyd Mayweather Jr and Conor McGregor in August 2017, Las Vegas. Tickets on the secondary market to sit ringside were as high as $110,763 (R1.65 million) per ticket after all handling fees. Just to get in to watch the Super Fight started around $2000.00 (R28 500) per ticket. Imagine spending that amount of money for one hour’s entertainment.

Let’s move the to the biggest show on earth, ever, it was about 32 A.D., at Calvary, a showdown to sin and unrighteousness. However, instead of switching on the lights, God switched out all light whilst Jesus, conquered for a moment, was hanging on the cross between two thieves.

At noon the whole country was covered with darkness, which lasted for three hours. At three o’clock Jesus cried out with a loud shout, “Eloi, Eloi, lema sabachthani?” which means, “My God, my God, why did you abandon me?”

Mark 15:33 & 34 (GNB)

When Jesus died it marked the end of sacrificial rituals, it showed the grace of God, it bought humanity eternal life with God, at the cost of the Son of God’s Life. The full Emanuel “God with us” is revealed to every sinner that kneels at the cross for deliverance, at no cost, just the words of repentance.

Dear Father, help me to appreciate the price Jesus paid at Calvary for my sins. Make me worthy of the blood spilt on the sand for me and my redemption. May your Spirit dwell in my heart and encrypt the laws of righteousness in my mind. In Jesus name, Amen. Dr Cliff Ferguson – Shalom Centurion.
