Tarred roads

Historians say our road building system was the result of the work of two Scottish engineers, Thomas Telford, and John Loudon McAdam. Telford designed the system of raising the foundation of the road in the center to act as a drain for water. The tar that is mixed with stone comes from the process of making petrol and diesel used to fuel the vehicles that drive on these roads.

So too, the road of life is paved with the products of our day, yet if the center is not raised by our belief system and morals the problems cannot drain off, and cause muddy puddles and potholes that cause danger to the people using our road.

In Mark 11:7-11 They brought the colt to Jesus, threw their cloaks over the animal, and Jesus got on. Many people spread their cloaks on the road, while others cut branches in the field and spread them on the road. The people who were in front and those who followed behind began to shout, “Praise God! God bless him who comes in the name of the Lord!

Here Jesus enters Jerusalem, and the road is laid out with clothes of those that love him. Yet in eternity, there will not be tarred roads, or roads covered with garments, the Bible says roads will be of pure gold. Roads not seen, only imagined.

Dear Lord, allow me to raise the center of my road through life, by living up to the standards given in your Word. Allow the problems to run off so that I will not be seen as a muddy puddle, but rather a road to solutions, peace, harmony, and testimony. Make me a way of leading others to know you. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
